Jubilee Year

Pope Francis has decreed that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee, a holy year which happens every 25 years in the Catholic Church. The Jubilee Year is a landmark moment in the life of the global church. St Margaret Mary’s Junior School will join together as pilgrims of hope, pledging to work together for God’s kingdom of justice, peace and love.
A Jubilee Year is a special year of forgiveness and reconciliation, in which people are invited to come back to a relationship with God, with one another and with all of creation.
How often is a Jubilee Year?
It is celebrated by the Church every 25 years. A Pope can also proclaim Extraordinary Jubilees, like the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy which started in 2015 and continued through 2016.
When does the Jubilee Year begin and end?
It began on 24th December 2024 and will conclude on 6th January 2026.
Jubilee at St Margaret Mary’s
We held our whole school launch day in Spring Term. Throughout our Jubilee Journey, our school community will complete activities different throughout the academic year as set out in the Jubilee calendar. Some include: The Big Lent Walk, raising money for charity, helping those in need and a pledge day alongside our infant school.

Artwork
The children in St Margaret Mary’s have been unpicking what the logo means to them. They have been creating some logos of their own to display around our school.
