Year 6
How You Can Help
Work with your child to ensure that their weekly homework is completed and handed in on time.
Spend time at home, practising weekly spellings with your child.
Listen to your child reading and read to them. Talk about what you are reading.
Make use of our online learning resources by encouraging your child to access TT Rockstars, Active Learn, IDL, SATs Companion, SATs Boot Camp and their Google Classroom whilst at home.
For more information about what your child will be learning during their time in year 6, please check the individual curricuulm pages or speak to your child's class teacher.
In May, children in year 6 will do National Curriculum Assessments (SATs) in reading, maths and grammar, punctuation and spelling. These exam papers will be marked externally, whilst separate teacher assessments in Writing and Science will be designed and marked by teachers. We don't want children to worry at all about these assessments as we know they will be working hard all year with their teachers.
SATs week for the 2025 KS2 SATs is the week commencing 12th May 2025. Below are the set dates for each exam throughout the 2024 KS2 SATs week.
